Inter-village Archery competition returns after 600 years on SAT 5 MAY and its day 2 of our FAB Beer Festival too! 

Local villages have formed mixed teams of 3 to compete for the title of “Fighting Village of the Year”

Archers from each team have attended a number of training evenings at Stock Street Farm Barn and been coached by Coggeshall’s own;  Outlaws Archers in the effective and safe use of the English longbow – and been accepted to compete.

Teams need to register (book) with their name BY Midnight THU 2 MAY – and pay the £20 team fee in advance

The teams will face each other in relay match competitions over the course of SAT 4 MAY 2024

The relay competition approach is very competitive and not only tests the individuals archery skills but also team’s tactics and comradery.  The format is also very easy to follow and entertaining to watch because stronger archers can support weaker ones to lift the whole team – and supporters have a key role too!

Supporters are warmly welcomed –  especially those wearing their village colours to cheer their team’s efforts during the matches and enjoying a drink or two as well!  There is a small fee of £3pp to watch – please also book in advance.

Villages are also encouraged to send multiple teams of different archers to represent them and bring lots of supporters  

All of the bows, arrows and safety equipment are being supplied by Outlaws Archers.
